A specialist workspace designed for precision and performance
Evident was a wholly owned subsidiary of Olympus, having recently transferring to Bain Capital in 2022. Evident specialises in creating advanced life science and industrial solutions, these include but are not limited to, microscopes, Cameras and Ultrasonic Flaw Detectors.
Designing a workspace to support specialist expertise
Evident required a workplace that reflected the technical nature of its work while remaining functional and efficient day to day. Spacio translated this into a clean, structured environment that supports accuracy, collaboration, and long-term usability.
With the recent change in ownership, Evident decided to relocate and design an office to reflect their new brand. The space has been designed to ensure staff can work in comfort and clients can experience the products in the showroom. Creating a new office for a new brand allows for exciting spaces to be built. Evident needed an agile working space for the new team to drop into and use to introduce visitors to the new brand and products.
The branding for Evident has bright and rich shades, which were used sparingly around the design, being introduced through plastic recycled fabrics, glass vinyl’s and small finishing touches, adding a level of personality to the scheme.
Although the space was not expansive, every element of the brief was thoughtfully integrated, resulting in a workplace that supports future growth while encouraging collaboration, product showcase opportunities, and a stronger sense of team connection.
Careful consideration was given to the wraparound windows overlooking the Stansted runway. Desking was positioned to maximise natural light, creating a bright and energising environment for day-to-day work. In contrast, the meeting room, showroom, and testing spaces were arranged along the perimeter walls, ensuring a practical and balanced use of the floorplate.
Upon entry, visitors were welcomed by a soft touchdown area and kitchen space, creating an inviting setting where conversations could flow naturally and refreshments could be enjoyed without ever needing to step away from guests.
A generous boardroom extends seamlessly from the welcome area, providing an inviting setting for both internal and client meetings. A connecting door leads through to the showroom, where custom plinths on castors allow for complete flexibility — enabling products to be easily moved, displayed within the office, or transported to external events and exhibitions.
Both spaces have been thoughtfully enhanced with feature acoustic felt and cork finishes, working alongside high-quality acoustic-backed carpet to improve sound absorption and ensure a comfortable environment for conversation and presentation.
Within the main office, oversized acoustic pendant light shades are positioned above breakout areas. With the high ceilings, these create a striking visual feature while also helping to manage noise levels across the space. Evident’s bold and vibrant branding is introduced with a light touch throughout the design, using recycled plastic fabrics, glass manifestations, and carefully considered detailing. These subtle accents bring personality and energy to the scheme without overwhelming the overall aesthetic.
Evident now operates from a sustainable, customisable, and thoughtfully designed workspace that not only supports the practical needs of its employees but also fosters a strong sense of diligence and workplace culture.
On move-in day, employees were introduced to the space for the very first time, with no prior expectations. The reaction spoke for itself — the team was genuinely impressed, with many expressing how the environment exceeded everything they had imagined.
