David Oliver Associates (DOA) are a leading Wholesale Broker and Travel Insurance provider, founded in 1996 and based in Great Notley, Essex. DOA had recently moved into a new purpose-built office space, and they were looking to create an office environment that reflected their innovative brand values and met the needs of their growing team.

The Brief
Spacio was approached by DOA with the brief to the design a new space that was both contemporary and stylish but also functional and flexible. The open plan layout of the office space meant that acoustics was an important consideration for the project. The space needed to be both comfortable and productive for the team, even with the potential noise of multiple teams working together.

The Space
With agile working and a purpose-built building in mind, the furniture and finishing of the DOA office was all centered around the specific needs of the team. Working with the stunning new building, striking furniture pieces were selected to reflect the contemporary feel. DOA’s new branding palette created the selection of fabrics, tones and textures to introduce into the office. It was also key to ensure that any collaboration furniture was modular, flexible and accessible for all, to allow for DOA to re shuffle the space as the company grows and evolves.

The Build
The build process was carefully planned and executed to ensure that the finished space met the needs of the client. The design team worked closely with DOA to ensure that the space was functional and comfortable, and that it reflected the company’s brand values and personality with the fittings and furntiure selected. The acoustic felt baffles and acoustic fabric booths installed were an effective additon to help to absorb sound in the open plan layout, creating a warm, comfortable and productive environment for the team.

The Impact
The new office has had a positive impact on DOA’s team, and is a great example of how contemporary furniture and design can be used to create a stylish and functional workspace. The use of acoustic features has helped to create a comfortable and productive environment for the team whilst the branding hero points and feature areas have tied the space together as one. Even down to the storage, which was designed into be elevated from a simple cabinet, to become an architectural feature.
